It is not good for me to browse government websites because they raise my blood pressure.

It is not good for me to browse government websites because I write rants like this one that burn any bridges left standing since I quit my government job almost 15 years ago.

It is not good for me to browse government websites because I make myself new enemies from contemporaries in my industries, the ones with great contacts but not so great principles and very few scruples and who have no issue extracting the maximum amount of taxpayer sourced Euros to deliver the most minimum of viable products.

But…

It is good for me to browse government websites so that I can confirm that I want to do better work than that.

It is good for me to browse government websites because it reminds me that I don’t want to work on pointless, circlejerk projects that get shelved or buried.

It is good for me to browse government websites so that I reaffirm that I want to be in my clients’ corner, not painting them into a corner.

It is good for me to browse government websites because it continues to affirm that I will do things my way.

It is good for me to browse government websites because it reminds me that after all, I left my government job so that I don’t become like them.

It is good for me to browse government websites because it confirms that although I’ve made many mistakes, the path I’ve beaten for myself was to never become one of them.
